The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) competition is scheduled for the first  Saturday every month on the south side ranges.  This competition typically reserves all of the bays from Friday afternoon until Saturday around noon.  IDPA matches are designed to provide a practical shooting sport that uses real-world, self‑defense appropriate equipment and tactics to simulate and solve “real world” defensive scenarios, with the primary goal of testing and improving an individual’s skill and ability.   The stage setups constantly change for various scenarios.  The club has a variety of equipment and props to make each match unique. This match is open to the public, and all are encouraged to participate.  We welcome first time participants and encourage them to use the gun that is their everyday carry to ensure their readiness for the unpredictable.

The Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) Cowboy Action Shooting competition is scheduled the first Saturday every month on the 25 YD bay north range. The match typically reserves the bay from Friday afternoon until Saturday around noon.  SASS membership is not required for our matches, and they are open to the public. The participants share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive shooting in a safe, fun, family-friendly environment. Our youngest shooter is 11 and are oldest is 86 and the ladies love to participate. We employ two revolvers, a lever action rifle and a shot gun from the old west manufactured before 1890 or replicas thereof. There are many categories within the rules to include costume based.  No worries though, all you need is boots, jeans, long sleeved shirt and you’ll fit right in. We recommend a hat with a big brim like a cowboy hat but it’s not required. The SASS adage is that you come for the shooting, but you stay for the people. And the best part? When we finish the shoot, we have a potluck lunch in the training facility.  If you never heard of SASS Cowboy Action Shooting just put Cowboy Action Shooting in the search bar on YouTube and take a look.  Come to one of our matches and we will show you the ropes, entertain you and feed you lunch.  And if you are really interested, we’ll put a set of guns on you at the end of the match, so you can give it a try.

On the first Sunday of September during the monthly club meeting at 3:00 P.M. the club at large nominate club members for the elected positions of President, Vice President and Tresurer / Secretary.  After the nominations are recognized, the club at large votes for the new officers.  Have your club ID card in hand so you may vote.  Note: This meeting may be moved in observance of  Labor Day Holliday weekend. The club is proud to host the NRA Women on Target training day. This event is normally held in the fall, and the date will be announced to the club for maximum participation. The event is open to the women in the community to receive training from certified NRA instructors on gun safety and supervised instruction to shoot a gun of each category. The participants are welcome to bring their own gun to this event. There will be a call out to the club at large to help with this event for all tasks from set up to tear down. This is a wonderful event enjoyed by all who participate.

The club is proud to host an annual NRA Youth Training event as a community service to ensure our youth receive the best gun safety training. It provides an opportunity for parents to bring their children to the club to receive certified NRA instruction on gun safety and to shoot a gun of each category. We typically employ .22 caliber guns, airsoft and 20 GA shot guns. The club at large is requested to support this event from set up to tear down.  The date of the shoot is announced a couple of months in advance.
